A new multifamily development is on the horizon for Friendship Heights, DC. The project, spearheaded by developer Donohoe and designed by Torti Gallas Urban, is set to transform an empty parking lot at 4201 Garrison Street NW.

The development will feature four 4-story plus penthouse buildings, creating a total of 125 residential units. Twenty percent of these units will be designated as affordable housing, addressing the community’s housing needs. The design by Torti Gallas Urban pays homage to historic Washington, capturing the timeless charm of century-old developments.

Located between the mixed-use corridor and transition zone of friendship heights, the proposed building would top out at 65 feet tall. This falls between the allowable max heights of both zones; 75 ft and 50 ft respectively.

The developer emphasized their commitment to sustainability in the project plans. Solar energy solutions will be incorporated, and the development will seek LEED certification.

Construction is expected to commence in Q1 2026, bringing new life to this prime location in Friendship Heights.
