The developer, Rooney Properties has been pitching variations of the Robinson Terminal North redevelopment since 2015. Now in the final stages of approvals, the site at 500-501 N Union Street could finally come to life.

Plans showcase over 230,000 SF across two buildings on either side of N Union St. The west building, the site of the existing warehouse, would be comprised of 38 housing units across 5 stories, and feature two restaurants on the ground floor.

The east building is set to contain 35 housing units and a circular restaurant which would capture panoramic views of the Potomac River. The restaurant is integrated into the landscaped waterfront park, anchoring the development and extending Founders Park, which is situated to the south of the site between the new buildings and the Potomac River.

Designed by Morris Adjmi Architects, both buildings and all three restaurants would have views of the waterfront. Landscape architecture is provided by LandDesign, Inc which is local to Alexandria.

Rooney is hoping to receive city approval by the end of 2024 and begin construction towards the end of 2025.
